On the Princess’s eighteen birthday, her father arranged for her to meet three possible suitors. The Princess was unsure of these plans but with the help of her camel friend, Jamaila and the all-knowing Genie Alim, they will help her to devise a plan to make her decision easier.

Everything doesn’t go according to plan, though, because of the jealous sorceress Mara who will do everything in her power to become queen of Arcadia. In the phase of the new South Africa, we meet a group of four women who come from different backgrounds and they have their individual ideologies of what is takes to make it in the democratic rainbow nation. “Plastics” is a satirical drama in the milieu of Sandton, where the elite are presumed to reside.

Despite their diverse personalities these women work together regardless of race, age or creed for a common goal. A business opportunity is used to repair a damaged past of each character and to take care of their future. “Plastics” articulates the views of many South Africans who are trying to find a new identity post the 1994 elections.

The production opens at the Scaena Theatre from (19 Preview) 20-22 October at 19:30. Tickets are available at Computicket as well as at the doors.
