The department specialises in the training of Intermediate phase, Senior, and FET teachers in Mathematics, Natural  Sciences, and Technology Education at the undergraduate level at the Bloemfontein and Qwaqwa campuses. The programmes are also offered at the Advanced Certificate of Teaching level at the South Campus. 

Core Activities

Our core activities comprise teaching and learning, research, and engaged scholarship activities. 

Research 

Research projects in the department are focused on teaching and learning strategies in the classrooms, and curriculum innovations in Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Technology Education. Through the research activities, the department seeks to contribute to the understanding and improvement of teaching and learning of Mathematics, Natural Sciences (Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences), and Technology.
