Teaching and Learning Unit Responsibilities

The Teaching and Learning Unit in the Faculty of Education is responsible for supporting and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning within the faculty. The unit generally focuses on the following core responsibilities:
Academic Support and Development
- Supporting academic staff in improving teaching practices.
- Offering workshops, training, and resources for innovative and effective pedagogy.
- Encouraging the use of technology in teaching (e.g., Learning Management Systems).
Curriculum Development and Review
- Assisting departments in the design, development, and revision of curricula.
- Ensuring alignment with national qualifications frameworks and accreditation requirements.
- Promoting transformative and inclusive curriculum practices.
Student Learning Support
- Providing academic support programmes (e.g., writing centres, tutoring, and mentoring).
- Developing resources and initiatives that promote student success and retention.
- Addressing diverse learning needs through inclusive and accessible learning strategies.
Quality Assurance in Teaching
- Monitoring and evaluating teaching practices and course delivery.
- Conducting student feedback surveys on teaching and learning experiences.
- Supporting peer review of teaching.
Educational Research and Scholarship
- Promoting the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Encouraging reflective teaching practices.
Policy Implementation and Strategic Planning
- Supporting the implementation of institutional teaching and learning policies.
- Aligning faculty teaching goals with institutional strategic objectives.
- Leading or supporting faculty-level teaching and learning committees.
