 iKUDU one year on - Transforming curricula through internalisation and virtual exchanges (14 December 2020)

“There is an urgency to rethink internationalisation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have to ensure that all students can participate in internationalisation and prepare them for a world in which they have to navigate unknown spaces”. This challenge was posed by the Vice-Rector Research and Internationalisation of the University of the Free State (UFS), Professor Corli Witthuhn, to the iKudu project’s first webinar, which took place in two iterations in November 2020. Dr Lavern Samuels, the Director of International Education and Partnerships at Durban University of Technology, South Africa and Chair of the Director’s Forum of the International Education Association of South Africa responded that “a coalition of the committed is required, bringing new voices to the table with respect for diversity and plurality, taking interdisciplinarity to new levels, with opportunities for research” emphasised. Office for Intenational Affairs: Enabling internationalisation at the UFS (13 August 2020)

Supporting comprehensive internationalisation at the University of the Free State (UFS), the Office for International Affairs (OIA) is the principal enabling office for internationalisation at the institution. Led by Cornelius Hagenmeier, the OIA strategically and operationally supports internationalisation at the UFS, also reporting on institutional internationalisation as well as promoting international scholarships and funding opportunities. Read more

 iKudu Project launches Blog(23 April 2020)

The iKudu project, which is an European Union-funded Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project, has recently launched its blog, which aims to amplify the diverse voices of all iKudu stakeholders. In this space, members of the iKudu team will regularly share their views on the project and related international education topics. Read more

 DUT International Special Projects

The Durban University of Technology s involved in several International Special Projects. Projects of note from 2020 and 2021 are the EU-funded iKudu Project, the Association of Commonwealth University (ACU) consultancy on international virtual engagement, the Personalised Engineering Education Southern Africa (PEESA) III project and the International Virtual Campus for Open Learning.
