"As the use of computers grows on campuses, so does the electronic networking. In courses where every student has access to electronic mail – also known as E-mail – this technology offers faculty a good alternative to the usual paper-and-pencil CATs. The instructor poses a question to the class, via electronic mail, about his or her teaching, and invites student responses. Students respond to the E-mail question with a personal, though anonymous, message sent to the teacher’s electronic mailbox."
