IDEA#22 Campus and Community Events
 Overview Pages:76-78
"The primary purpose of the Campus and Community Events IDEA is to encourage students to attend events related to course content that can serve as material for classroom discussion. Learning is facilitated by making connections and application during the discussion of an attended event. The instructor’s role is to tie together the course material and the activity, helping students draw connections between the two. This activity provides an easy avenue for students to engage in events, thereby providing context to classroom learning.Campus and Community Events require students to engage outside the classroom by participating in events. For example, students in an interior design course might attend a gallery opening, or students in a humanities class might attend a lecture hosted by the library. The activity can be used to provide students with opportunities for real-world application, new experiences in which they may never have participated otherwise, and avenues to engage with other students through discussion of Campus and Community Events." — Teaching for Learning, Major CH, Harris MS, Zakrajsek T, 2016
