IDEA #37 Scavenger Hunt
 Overview Pages:136-138
"In this IDEA, the teacher prepares a list of clues related to items or tasks for students to find or complete. The information may be located within course materials, around campus, in the community, or on the Web. Scavenger Hunts have been used effectively for decades to generate excitement and deeper thinking about course content (Dodge, 1991; Gaskill, McNulty, & Brooks, 2006). Depending on the intended outcomes for the activity, students may be asked to work individually or in teams. The items on the list can be given a point value (based on difficulty to complete), or students can try to complete as many as possible within a set time limit. The goal of this activity is to facilitate student learning through the completion of the items as part of the Scavenger Hunt. The game is intended to enhance and develop cooperation, creativity, and engagement. In addition, the Scavenger Hunt IDEA can get students to engage with course concepts outside of the four walls of the classroom." — Teaching for Learning, Major CH, Harris MS, Zakrajsek T, 2016
