Brief Description

"In this team games activity, home teams work together to learn content and then individuals representing the home team compete against students from other teams in a tournament."

Purpose"Team Games Tournament encourages students to help each other master course content and skills. While participating in their home teams (diverse achievement/ability teams) to prepare for the tournament, students coach each other in a form of peer teaching. They then strive to do their best while competing with students in newly formed tournament teams (similar achievement/ability). Both group structures have advantages, so this LAT provides a unique opportunity for students to both teach each other and learn from each other." — Learning Assessment Techniques, Barkley, EF and Major, CH, 2016
