Brief Description
"Students write a limited number of test questions related to a recent learning module and then create an answer sheet, or alternately a model answer and scoring sheet, to accompany the test questions."

 Purpose
"Students often come to college unprepared to take examinations and have little practice at anticipating what questions might be on an exam. Teachers often attempt to help students by given them practice tests, but this technique takes the guidance further by having students practice creating tests. This technique thus provides students with a structured opportunity to gain practice on anticipating and preparing for tests and to have important feedback from the instructor about whether their preparations are on target." — Learning Assessment Techniques, Barkley, EF and Major, CH, 2016.
