In conjunction with an assigned reading, students complete a written assignment that includes three components: new perceptions or understandings (Insights), a resource they have found that amplifies the reading's themes or information (Resources), and an example from the student's personal experience that relates to the reading (Application).

This SET engages students by challenging them to reflect upon and identify what they have learned, connect what they have learned to their personal experience, and search out additional sources that deepen their knowledge or understanding of the reading's themes or information.
