Building a better vocabulary

Strategy for building a better vocabulary: This method uses flash cards to help students build a better vocabulary. On the front of the flash card, the name of a new word, while the back of the flash card has:

  • Reference to where in the book/study material the word appears (index)
  • Its part of speech
  • Pronunciation guide
  • Definition of the word, and
  • An illustration (Gabriel, 2008)
