We invite all institutions using CSSE to participate in the College Staff Survey of Student Engagement (CSSSE). Student Engagement staff handles all aspects of survey administration, including invitations, follow-up messages, delivery of the online survey, compilations of data, and analysis of results.

  • CSSSE will be administered from August to September at participating universities.
  • In order to administer CSSSE, an institution must also administer CSSE.
  • Lecturer responses are anonymous to their institutions.
The timeline below approximates the general activities of the 12-month cycle:

Registration and planning: January to May

  • Registration opens
  • Familiarise yourself with the administration process
Survey preparation: May and June

Material preparation (e.g. population file) takes place between May and June. CSSSE participants submit materials that will be processed for administration. Materials processing can be lengthy and CSSSE participants will be contacted regularly throughout this period to resolve questions and issues about materials.

  • Invitation emails are customised
  • Prepare survey materials, such as population file, recruitment messages, and message schedule
  • Coordinate message delivery with campus Information Technology (IT) professionals
Administration: August to September

  • Mailing lists for the survey emails are created from population files
  • Administering CSSSE
  • Response rate is monitored
  • Reminder messages to all lecturers as necessary
Data and reports: January

  • Institutional report delivery and data files available for download
