KovsieSport is proud to announce that Kesaoleboga ‘Kesa’ Molotsane, Sport Manager: Athletics at the University of the Free State (UFS), has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Athletes Commission on the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Board.

Her election to this national role highlights not only her dedication to athletics, but also the university’s continued commitment to producing leaders who shape sport in South Africa.

A new chapter for South African athletes

ASA is the national governing body for track and field, cross country, road running, and race walking. It oversees national competitions, athlete development, and represents the country on the international stage. The ASA Athletes Commission serves as the official voice of athletes within the federation, ensuring that their rights, needs, and experiences inform decisions at board level.

In her new role, Molotsane has set some key goals. “I aim to ensure that athletes are given a just and fair platform, where their concerns are addressed and their contributions are recognised.” Her leadership will focus on strengthening the connection between athletes and administration, helping to build a sporting culture that supports excellence both on and off the field.

From campus to the national stage

Molotsane’s leadership journey began during her time as a student-athlete at the UFS. Through involvement in student governance, sports committees, and competitive athletics, she steadily grew her influence and experience in sports administration.

With the support of the university and KovsieSport, she gained the skills and confidence to take on roles beyond campus; first at a provincial level, and now nationally. Her story reflects the deep impact of institutional backing in shaping sports leaders who are passionate, capable, and focused on transformation.

Inspiring the next generation

Molotsane is aware of the responsibility that comes with her new role. For many student-athletes, her journey stands as a powerful example of what is possible with hard work, self-belief, and consistent effort.

“It is possible. If you believe in your craft and are willing to put in the work to turn your dreams into reality, it is possible,” she says. “Never doubt yourself, believe in your dreams even if no one else does. Always be willing to learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

With these words, she encourages future leaders in sport to stay focused, be open to growth, and trust in their ability to lead with purpose and resilience.

Collaboration for growth

She also highlights the importance of strong partnerships between ASA and academic institutions such as the UFS. Such relationships create a pipeline of talent, athletes, coaches, and administrators who can contribute meaningfully to the growth of South African sport. KovsieSport, already recognised for producing world-class talent, continues to be a vital part of that ecosystem.

Her appointment not only represents personal achievement, but also a broader step forward for athlete representation and leadership in South African sport.
