The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Dr Blade Nzimande, MP, has authorised NSFAS to open the 2020 application season for student funding from 1 September - 30 November 2019.

Students off to visit universities abroad

The excitement was palpable when 24 students from the University of the Free State (UFS) gathered in the early hours of Friday 6 January 2012 to travel to universities in Europe, Japan and the USA as part of the Leadership for Change Programme.

150 first-year students were selected last year to take part in the programme, which is aimed at exposing students to diverse cultures, enabling them to learn leadership skills in order to build a new class of UFS student to become leaders during their years of study.

A cohort of 115 students visited universities in Europe and the USA in September 2011.
