The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Dr Blade Nzimande, MP, has authorised NSFAS to open the 2020 application season for student funding from 1 September - 30 November 2019.

UFS one of the finalists for the Sanlam Afrikaans Drama prize

The University of the Free State, the 2005 winner of the Sanlam prize for Afrikaans drama, is once again a finalist in this year’s competition with the drama, Breinbliksem by Thys Heydenrych.

The other finalists are the University of Stellenbosch (Willem Anker’s Slaghuis) and the Tshwane University of Technology (Wim Vorster’s Waterman and Anelle Bester’s Dis ek, Anna).

The four winning texts are performed at Aardklop in Potchefstroom from 26 to 30 September. The winning department receives R100 000 and the winning drama will be performed on two other arts festivals in South Africa. The individual prizes are R20 000 each.
