The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Dr Blade Nzimande, MP, has authorised NSFAS to open the 2020 application season for student funding from 1 September - 30 November 2019.

Expert in microbiology at the UFS receives medal for his research

Prof. James du Preez, Departmental Chairperson of the University of the Free State's (UFS) Department of Microbial, Biochemical and Food Biotechnology was recently awarded a silver medal for exceptional original published research during the biennial congress of the South African Society for Microbiology held in Grahamstown. This is only the seventh time since 1986 the medal was awarded.
