Helen Zille is a South African journalist, activist, and politician who served as the national leader (2007-2015) of the Democratic Alliance (DA), the official opposition party in South Africa. She was also Premier of the Western Cape from 2009 until 2019. Zille’s autobiography, Not without a Fight, was published in 2016.

Academics from the Grow our Own Timber (GOOT) Programme attended a workshop on academic leadership presented by Prof. Chris Kapp from the Stellenbosch University. The workshop addressed challenges and issues faced by academic leaders in South African Higher Education institutions. Leadership for teaching and learning and leadership for research were also discussed. At the workshop were, from the left: Mr Lehlohonolo Mathengtheng, Department of Medical Microbiology, Prof. Kapp, and Ms Adré Minnaar-Ontong, Department of Plant Sciences. |
