Fundraising and Alumni Relations at the University of the Free State builds meaningful partnerships that strengthen the University’s ability to transform lives through education, research, and community impact.

Through fundraising and alumni engagement, the department connects the University with individuals, organisations, and communities who share a commitment to advancing opportunity and knowledge.

Fundraising and Alumni Relations works closely with alumni, donors, corporate partners, and philanthropic organisations to mobilise resources that support student success, academic excellence, and impactful research initiatives.

Fundraising and Alumni Relations strengthens the University’s development and engagement efforts through: 

Fundraising and Donor Partnerships
Building relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate partners to mobilise financial support for scholarships, research, infrastructure, and strategic institutional priorities. Philanthropic support helps expand educational opportunities and enables initiatives that transform lives and communities. 

Alumni Relations

Connecting with UFS alumni across the world to strengthen lifelong relationships with the University and foster a vibrant global network of Kovsies who support and champion the institution.    

Campaigns and Strategic Giving Initiatives
Leading fundraising campaigns that support priority programmes such as student funding, research initiatives, and community-focused projects that improve lives and expand access to higher education.  

Donor Stewardship and Impact Reporting
Ensuring that donors remain connected to the outcomes of their support through transparent reporting, engagement opportunities, and ongoing partnerships that demonstrate the impact of giving.
