What is AA at the UFS? 

Academic advisors at CTL strive to assist students in reaching success (academic, personal and career) through the provision of general academic advice and career advice. The overall aim of academic advising is to help students align their career and educational plan, while developing success skills such as but not limited to time management, effective study strategies, and goal setting.  
  
Academic Advising Objectives:  

  • Support faculty to help promote student success.  
  • Providing resources/skills that enables on-time graduation.  
  • Connecting students and building rapport while establishing a sense of belonging  
  • Giving confidence/uplifting students in the academics and promote student wellbeing.  
  • Equip and empower academic advising professionals.  
  • Instil academic behaviours that promote student success.  
  • Empower students to take ownership of their personal, academic and career journey.  
  • Tracking, documenting, and reporting on student success.  
  • Content development addressing student needs.  
  • Contributing to research advancements of academic advising
