South African Surveys of Student Engagement (SASSE)
The EBC unit has led the administration of engagement surveys in South Africa for over a decade. The engagement surveys consist of three institutional-level surveys, the BUSSE, SASSE and LSSE; as well as the CLASSE, which is administered on a modular level to identify gaps between students and lecturers’ valued engagement practices for a specific module.

|
SASSE | South African Survey of Student Engagement

A revision of the surveys in 2020 allows for measuring student engagement in a more blended learning environment, as well as adding additional topical modules on students’ engagement with academic advising, writing, inclusivity, and technology. SASSE 3.0 will be administered from 2021.
