The Technology discipline strives towards preparing teachers for the future. The focus is therefore to properly equip prospective teachers for their teaching task, and 2013 was no exception.
Apart from teaching and research, thorough planning for the development of two highly modern laboratories for the subjects Engineering Graphics and Design and Technology on the Bloemfontein campus, was done.
Attention was paid to make these two laboratories of world class quality. At the same time a laboratory on the Qwaqwa Campus for the teaching of Technology education, was planned. It is with great expectancy that we are looking forward to using the centres by the end of 2014.
The discipline was also directly involved in the planning and development of Engineering Graphics and Design educational facilities at the new Sol Plaatjie University in Kimberley.
During 2014 the first students will start following the current UFS curriculum at the new institution.
