Jean - Paul Pophaim is currently employed as a Lecturer at the Department of Criminology at the University of the Free State. After matriculating from Northern Cape High School, in Kimberley, he completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies (M.Soc.Sc. with Specialisation in Criminology) at the University of the Free State. His research interests include issues pertaining to the experiences of victimisation among vulnerable victim groups, specifically members of the homeless population. He is also responsible for lecturing modules in various fields of specialisation, which include Penology and Criminal Justice. At present, he is also working towards obtaining his doctorate qualification in Criminology (PhD).

Area(s) of Interest

His academic interest is focused on issues pertaining to the experiences of victimisation among vulnerable victim groups, specifically the homeless population. Broader areas of interest include Penology, Criminal Justice and Contemporary Crime Issues, as well as research related topics in all relevant areas of specialisation.
