Short CV

I am an anthropologist, currently lecturer in the department of anthropology at the University of Free State. Prior to joining the academia, I did extensive community work. I am currently a fellow in the Teaching Advancement at University fellowship programme. Serving on Editorial Committee of The South African Journal of Cultural History (2019-2021). Chairing the permit committee of the Free State Provincial Heritage Resources Council and heritage resources management subcommittee of the South African Heritage Resource Agency (SAHRA). My teaching philosophy advances both educational leadership and civic humanism principles. My academic interests are focused on issues pertaining to scholarship that inform transformative education, community engagement, heritage, culture and health. I see my work as interdisciplinary as the movement of my thought cut across various disciplinary boundaries such as social work, psychology, sociology and developmental studies. I imagine my future contribution to advance the position that understand scholarly practice as context specific, entwined in the discovery of the knowledge of the discipline (epistemology) and the latest ideas of how to teach it (pedagogy). It is my assertion that teaching at its best shapes both research and practice.

Career Goal

Change is the only constant, be it in everyday life or profession. My career goal is underscored by the continuous pursuit for new insight to gain more experience in order to remain relevant.
