1. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the requirements as presented in 1.4 under General Information in this Rule Book, the following also applies:
- A Bachelor Honours degree in Criminology (at Exit Level 8).
- Passed the Bachelor Honours degree with an average mark of at least 60%.
- Obtained a subminimum of at least 60% in each separate Bachelor Honours module.
- Obtained a mark of at least 65% in a research report in Criminology at NQF Level 8.
Admission is subject to departmental approval, and is determined by admission requirements, sustained academic standards at undergraduate and Bachelor Honours level and, in cases where more than two years have elapsed since the awarding of the preliminary qualification, selection criteria determined by the department.
2. CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT
Students must write a dissertation on a topic chosen in consultation with the supervisor and the academic head of the department. The dissertation is subject to internal and external assessment.
