Schoemé Steenkamp

Schoemé Steenkamp

Schoemé Steenkamp (neé Grobler) is an artist who is passionate about Theatre for Very Early Years as well as puppetry. Having studied at our department between 2012 and 2015, she comments on having walked away with a toolbox full of practical experience from being a stage manager, knowing how to operate a sound/lighting desk and to perform on stage, among many other skills.

Currently, she is the co-curator and coordinator of the children’s theatre program at the KKNK, and is involved with the ATKV Tjokker- and Tienertoneel projects. Her future plans include developing more Theatre for Young performances, especially Baby Theatre.

Steenkamp shares her favourite quote by Oscar Wilde: "Don’t forget – no one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories that you have to tell.”
