Call for papers SPiL Plus special volume on Southern African Microlinguistics

by Kristina Riedel | Jan 24, 2017

We invite article submissions to a special issue of the Stellenbosch Papers in Linguistics Plus (SPiL Plus) on Southern African Microlinguistics. The Southern African Microlinguistics Workshop (SAMWOP) series held its fifth yearly event from 24-26 November 2016 at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa. As with previous SAMWOP workshops, a special issue of SPiL Plus –a peer-reviewed and accredited open access journal- has been reserved for articles based on papers presented at the workshop, which is also open for any other articles on Southern African microlinguistics. We definite the term 'microlinguistics' broadly as research that focuses predominantly on the structural aspects of language, rather than on its sociological, discursive or educational role. The focus of most previous issues has been on Sub-Saharan African languages and we would like to continue this tradition for this volume.  However, articles of a more general, theoretical nature are also welcome. Please submit your paper of no more than 25 pages in the format required by SPiL Plus by the end of the day on 30 April 2017 (South African Standard Time) via the SPiL Plus online submission system. In preparing your submission please carefully follow the author guidelines and the submission preparation checklist for SPiL Plus as listed here: http://spilplus.journals.ac.za/index.php/pub/about/submissions#authorGuidelines

To submit your paper go to http://spilplus.journals.ac.za/pub/user/register (and tick ‘register as author’). Then submit at: http://spilplus.journals.ac.za/pub/author/submit/1 (please include a note to the editor indicating it is a SAMWOP submission).

Please note that SPiL applies a fair article processing charge (page fees) for authors affiliated with South African Higher Education institutions. The details can be found here: http://spilplus.journals.ac.za/pub/about/editorialPolicies#custom-1

While SPiL Plus does not generally accept submissions in LaTeX, we are working with the journal on building that functionality. If you wish to submit in LaTeX please contact the guest editors well ahead of the submission deadline for further instructions.
