I am a lecturer and researcher in the Department for Sustainable Food Systems and Development with a strong focus on research methodology, postgraduate supervision, and food systems resilience. I teach research methodology and dissertation modules at postgraduate diploma and master’s level, and contribute to undergraduate teaching in Introduction to Food Systems (first year) and Management of Change and Adaptation (third year). I hold a Master of Commerce in Industrial Psychology and Honours degrees in Psychology and Industrial Psychology, and I am currently completing a PhD in Sustainable Agriculture entitled “An Integrated Resilience Framework to Facilitate Market Access for Fresh Produce Farmers in the Western Cape’s Traditional Food System.”

My interdisciplinary background provides a unique lens through which I examine food systems, enabling me to integrate psychological, organisational, and socio-economic dimensions with systems and sustainability perspectives. This allows me to explore how individual and collective behaviour, leadership, decision-making, and adaptive capacity shape resilience, influence responses to change, and affect market participation within food systems. Through this integrated approach, my research and teaching contribute to a more nuanced understanding of resilience as both a social and structural process within transforming food systems.
