The Student Counselling and Development (SCD) office aims to equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and tools to effectively overcome their personal and academic challenges and to become well-rounded, optimally developed students and members of society. We achieve this via a variety of initiatives and services, including:

Mental Health programmes and projects
We use scientifically-supported programmes and projects designed to improve students’ overall well-being, career prospects, academic performance, and life satisfaction. Our most significant projects include the Kindness Project (a compassion-based intervention), the Career Development Project, The Power Club (dealing with trauma and building resiliency project), and the Super Study Skills project (enhancing academic performance), to name but a few.
Research and Community Projects
We do research on relevant higher-educational and community-related phenomena, present at various conferences, and is actively involved in community projects on the Qwaqwa Campus and within the broader Phuthaditjhaba community.
