Information Technology service-learning module: community training

Project description

The Department of Computer Science and Informatics within the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences presents a service-learning module. Through this module, students present computer literacy training to members of the Mangaung and Botshabelo community. The Department of Computer Science is currently working with two community partners, namely the Mangaung Concerned Residents Organisation (MCR) and the South African Red Cross Society. The computer literacy training includes exams for community members and the awarding of certificates. The majority of participating community members can find employment as administrative personnel with their newly acquired computer literacy skills.
