Governor Lesetja Kganyago
Join Governor of the Reserve Bank, Lesetja Kganyago, as he presents a guest lecture to be hosted at the University of the Free State on 15 August 2024.

On Thursday 15 August 2024, the University of the Free State Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) will welcome the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), Lesetja Kganyago, for a guest lecture titled Monetary Policy and Inequality: Post-Pandemic Lessons.

About the governor

Governor Kganyago has been a pivotal figure in international finance, representing South Africa in various G20 meetings and International Monetary Fund (IMF) committees. He currently chairs the Committee of Central Bank Governors of the Southern African Development Community and co-chairs the Financial Stability Board’s Regional Consultative Group for sub-Saharan Africa.

Holding a master’s degree in Development Economics from the University of London and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of South Africa, Kganyago has vast experience in macroeconomic policy, financial sector reform, and public debt management.
