Statement
On behalf of the Council of the University of the Free State (UFS), a statement is shared following the recent acts of violence that took place at the university during October 2025.

The statement sets out the Council’s position and its collective commitment to education, acknowledges the seriousness and impact of the protest, and reaffirms the university’s commitment to safety, stability, lawful conduct, educational upliftment, and institutional sustainability.
