The University of the Free State (UFS) proudly congratulates Lwazi Mestile, Assistant Director of Library Services, on his recent appointment as a member of the National Archives Advisory Council (NAAC). This milestone follows his appointment in 2025 as Training and Development Coordinator on the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the South African Society of Archivists (SASA).

He will also advise the National Archivist on advancing the objectives and functions of the National Archives, while supporting the protection and preservation of South Africa’s documentary heritage.
As a contributor to strategic planning and oversight within the national archival sector, Mestile will further consult on matters relating to records governance, accountability and the protection of public records.
