Organ Duo Concert

18 July 2019 ~ Odeion ~ 19:30

The Odeion School of Music has the pleasure of inviting you to an Organ Duo Concert with organists Jan Beukes and Gerhard de Bruin. Organ duets are rarely heard or performed nowadays, and with this concert, the artists want to expose the audience to the best-known organ duets. Jan and Gerhard will each also perform one solo item.

Jan obtained his BMus, BMusHons, MMus and PhD degrees at the University of the Free State. He lectures organ and organ method at the OSM since 2009. He regularly performs in departmental concerts as well as nationally and internationally - especially as chamber musician. His students have won several awards and competitions. He is currently Artistic & Operational Head of the OSM.

Gerhard de Bruin is a graduate of the UFS. His organ career started under the leadership of Ms Leonore Kloppers under whose tutelage he obtained a BMusHons in Organ Performance. Subsequent teachers included Dr Mario Nell as well as Dr Jan Beukes, under whose leadership he completed the Masters in Music Performance Study (Organ).
