PRESS RELEASE:

The Department of Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of the Free State, proudly presents Pieter Scholtz’s play: the amazing adventures of tambootie the puppet, directed by Gerben Kamper. This children’s production deals ultimately with the imagination. It celebrates the imagination’s power to bring a beloved puppet to life! Puppets come to life? Of course! A dog who can only speak Afrikaans? Naturally! A villainous circus boss, ready to crook everybody? Absolutely! A police-man who is a clown? Without a doubt!

In this dazzlingly charming child’s play, the stage is a circus, based, perhaps, on a single but prolific idea, namely “All the world’s a circus and we all have our parts to play”.

Come and be part of the circus at the Rehearsal Room on campus at the Department of Drama and Theatre Arts from 16 – 19 May 2012
