George Foster, a PhD student at the Odeion School of Music, presents one of his doctoral examination recitals. He will be accompanied by Eljee du Plooy (organ) and Lesley-Ann Mathews (piano).

You are cordially invited to attend the first performance of the newly established Kovsie String Ensemble. This ensemble was established at the beginning of 2009 with the aim of giving students the much needed instruction in ensemble playing and to build repertoire. The ensemble is led by mrs Anmari van der Westhuizen and consists of students exclusively.

Anmari van der Westhuizen studied at the University of Stellenbosch, at the Mozarteum (Salzburg) and at the Hochschule für Musik (Köln). She has been the conductor and director of the UCT String Ensemble since 1999, and spent eight years (1988 – 1996) as soloist and chamber musician in Europe. Anmari is currently member of the Odeion String Quartet – the only residential string quartet at a SA university.
