Press Release

Babbelkous en Bruidegom is one of the third year productions produced by the Department of Drama and Theatre Arts of the University of The Free State.

The play Babbelkous en Bruidegom, or as in the original French “La Perruche et Le Poulet”, is a thriller comedy. It tells the story of a blabber-mouth receptionist that adores investigation stories and murder films. She is convinced that her boss is murdered and notifies the police. A feverish Captain Greyling is called in to investigate the matter, but only gets confused by the all-knowing receptionist. Jeandré Oosthuizen plays the role of the captain and Nelien Smith the receptionist. With amazing performances from all the students, witty dialogue and profound directing, Babbelkous en Bruidegom is a must-see production.

The original script is written by Robert Thomas and is translated to Afrikaans by Anna Neethling-Pohl. Dr Pieter Venter is responsible for the directing. Babbelkous en Bruidegom will be showing at the Wynand Mouton Theatre from 15 – 17 April, 19:30.
