George Foster, a PhD student at the Odeion School of Music, presents one of his doctoral examination recitals. He will be accompanied by Eljee du Plooy (organ) and Lesley-Ann Mathews (piano).

Opera gala

International singers & students bings tribute to eminent South African singer and pedagogue at an Opera Gala Concert

On Sunday afternoon the 30th of August 2015 at 15:30, the Odeion School of Music (OSM) will present a gala concert in honour of eminent South African opera singer and pedagogue, Peet van Heerden.

 

On this recital former students and currents students will perform an exciting and wide-ranging program encompassing opera arias by Händel, Mozart, Verdi, Bizet, Catalani  and Donizetti, to name but a few. All singers will collaborate on stage for the final act, reciting the evergreen Dui-du ensemble from “Die Fledermaus” (Johann Strauss). OSM accompanists, Lesley-Ann Mathews and Cézarre Strydom will partner with the singers during the concert.
