"... and even when Ginastera gives you one piece with a close family likeness to another, you listen with a sense of renewal thanks to performances by Mariangela Vacatello of a superb zest, brio and imaginative scope... she has technique in spades, making her a front-runner with Argerich's legendary live Three Argentinian Dances... no praise could be high enough for Vacatello's achievement." (Gramophone 2016)

Mariangela Vacatello is recognised worldwide as an exceptionally gifted artist, reflected in the numerous awards and effusive reviews she received. English Media release

The classical story of Sleeping Beauty is re-imagined with the UFS drama department’s production Die Slapende Skoonheid. It tells the tale of Princess Flora and her two fairy nannies Naas and Florinda, who lives in Lappiesdorp, where they have their hands full with the wicked witch Insomnia. She wants to take over the kingdom and become queen herself! In true fairy tale style the charming Prince Gawie rises to the occasion and saves Flora from Insomnia’s evil clutches.

Set against a South African context, the play allows for a cultural experience with which every member of the audience will be able to identify. Die Slapende Skoonheid takes a fresh look at this age old tale and promises wholesome fun for the whole family.
