Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Management Accounting (BCom Hons (ManAcc))
This programme meets the education requirements of the Management Level of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and is aligned with the curriculum of CIMA.
Individuals who wish to pursue the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation should register with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and should pass the three CIMA-administered case study exams: the Operational Case Study Exam, the Management Case Study Exam and the Strategic Case Study Exam.
After successful completion of the BCom Hons (ManAcc), students can pursue a Master of Commerce in Management Accounting.
The BComHons (Management Accounting) programme consists of three coursework modules plus a research module (ERRC6808). As the three coursework modules are aligned with the CIMA curriculum, students registered with CIMA, who successfully complete the BComHons (Management Accounting) programme, are eligible for eleven CIMA exam exemptions and will enter the CIMA qualification framework at the Management Case Study Exam level (i.e. exemption is granted from the Operational Case Study Exam).
The programme consists of the following modules:
- Advanced Financial Reporting – Paper F2
- Advanced Management Accounting – Paper P2
- Project and Relationship Management – Paper E2
- Research and Research Methodology for BComHons (ManAcc)
Students must have obtained a relevant Bachelor's Degree with a weighted average of at least 58% in the third-year modules of Accounting, Managerial Accounting; Financial Management and Strategic Management of the BCom (Accounting) degree (or an equivalent at another institution).
Students from other institutions must seek specific permission for admission from the Programme Director: General Accountancy and must have obtained credits or exemptions for papers E1, F1 and P1 and the operational case study of CIMA.
