Short CV

Luzanne Eigelaar obtained the degrees BMus (2012), BMusHons (2013), and MMus (2017) from the University of the Free State, cum laude. She received numerous prizes during her studies, including the Hennie Joubert Merit Prize for her UNISA Grade 7 music theory results (2010), SAFO bursaries during the Vrystaatse Kunswedstryd (2011 & 2013), and study bursaries from the Southern African Church and Concert Organists Society for her undergraduate (2011, Roodepoort) and honours studies (2012, Bronkhorstspruit). Additionally, she was runner-up in the UNISA South African Music Study Bursary Competition and received the Hennie Joubert Musiekvriendekringprys. She was awarded the Kunstetrust Akademiese Eerbewys for the best third-year organ student and the Fanie Beetge Prize for the best undergraduate student in Systematic Music Studies, and in 2016 she received the Fanie Beetge Prize for the best postgraduate student in Performing Arts. Luzanne participated in the SASRIM conferences of 2014 and 2015, and attended the PASMAE conference in 2021.

She completed her PhD in Visual and Performing Arts with a focus on Music at North-West University in 2025, researching the teaching and learning experiences of first-year BMus music theory courses in South Africa. Luzanne is currently the Office Manager of the Free State Symphony Orchestra and Odeion String Quartet, and a part-time lecturer at the Odeion School of Music, teaching music theory, aural skills, and keyboard skills.
