First identify a potential supervisor, then select a university. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
STEP 2: Read further about your potential research topic
STEP 3: Identify a basic methodology you will use to answer your research question
STEP 4: Summarise your project into a two-page concept note
STEP 5: Contact the potential supervisor identified in Step 1 directly
Now that you have prepared your two-page document, you can contact them directly. Write a short message (a few sentences at most) that briefly introduces yourself and explains why you are contacting them specifically. Remember to attach your two-page document to the message.
STEP 6: The potential supervisor will let you know whether they can help you as soon as possible
