Our university signed a memorandum of understanding with the DHI (SA) Water Environment Health – South Africa (Pty) Ltd, trading as DHI (SA) in September 2011.
DHI (SA) is a specialised hydrological and hydraulic company with proprietary rights to certain hydrological and hydraulic software. DHI (SA) has agreed to make this software available to our university for training and academic research.
Our Institute for Groundwater Studies (IGS) trains students in hydraulics and/or hydrology and wants to utilise the software as part of its training programmes. The IGS also aims to have the water modelling capacity of its staff and students improved, and to have a close working relationship established with DHI (SA).
A short course on Integrated Hydrologic Modelling using MIKE SHE software was also presented at the IGS by Mr Douglas Graham, Senior Engineer at DHI in Denmark.
