GEHR6808: Research Project
Module GEHR6808 requires a student to prepare a research report under the close supervision of one of the academic staff members of the department. The module stretches over the course of a full academic year, i.e. from the start of the first semester to the end of the second semester.
The intention of the module is to help students to:
- Develop the ability to identify a suitable research project and to formulate a research question.
- Become familiar with the primary literature relevant to their chosen topic and the resources available to them to do so.
- Develop a strong sense of research ethics and appreciation of the scientific method.
- Develop the ability to generate data relevant to a specific research project.
- Develop their critical / comprehensive reading skills.
- Develop their scientific writing skills.
- Present the data they have generated throughout their course of study in a scientific way.
- Reach conclusions that are grounded on the data that they have collected.
- Identify (where necessary) the need for further research.
