Welcome to the Institute for Groundwater Studies
The Institute for Groundwater Studies (IGS) is dedicated to the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the field of groundwater science. Our commitment is to educate and empower students, equipping them with the expertise required to contribute to the identification, quantification, management and protection of our groundwater resources. Through these efforts, we strive to ensure that everyone has access to clean and safe water.
At the heart of our believes is the provision of research-based solutions and tools that aims to support and create sustainable development initiatives that address major global challenges, with a particular emphasis on ensuring reliable water sources in developing countries.
The IGS has expertise in the following fields of geohydrology:
Groundwater research, Groundwater in a mining environment, Development of groundwater monitoring programmes, Hydrogeological and contaminant investigations, Geochemical assessments, Groundwater software development, Acid-mine drainage prediction and management, Assessment of groundwater pollution, Groundwater risk assessments, Groundwater resource development and management etc.
