He makes regular appearances as a speaker, domestically and abroad, and is often a guest lecturer at various universities. He serves as Professor Extraordinaire in Accounting at the University of Stellenbosch.

Prof Lubbe's field of expertise is corporate governance and business ethics. As a management consultant, he has served, among other posts, as chairperson of various audit committees in both the public and private sectors.

As a forensic accountant, and with a law degree to his credit, he has served as an assessor to the high courts in many well-publicised fraud cases.

Prof Lubbe has established himself as a respected poet, having frequently been the winner or runner-up in national poetry competitions. He has completed all of South Africa’s well-known ultra-marathons and holds a black belt in karate.

He was appointed senior lecturer in the Department of Accounting at the UFS in 1976, obtained an MCom degree in 1977, and was promoted to professor in 1982, after receiving a doctorate in Auditing.
