Tshepo Moloi is a young economist who is presently working at the South African Reserve Bank’s Economic Research and Statistics Department, where he is responsible for the analysis of the government’s domestic and foreign debt. He completed an MCom in Economics at the University of the Free State (UFS) in 2016.

His master’s dissertation, entitled The social discounting task in economics: A laboratory experiment in South Africa, has been published in both local and international journals, such as the South African Journal of Economics and PLOS ONE. In 2014, he was the recipient of the DST-NRF Centre for Excellence in Human Development scholarship and was granted the Economic Research Southern Africa Award for the best honours student in economics at the UFS.
