Dr Patrick Bashizi Bashige Murhula is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Criminology at the University of the Free State. He completed his undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, majoring in Criminology and Sociology, followed by an Honours degree in Criminology, and Masters and PhD in Criminology and Forensic Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. From 2016 to 2019, Dr Murhula held a position as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Criminology and Forensic Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He then served as a postdoctoral researcher at the College of Law and Management at the same institution from 2019 to 2021 and subsequently as a postdoctoral researcher at Walter Sisulu University from 2021 to June 2024. Dr Murhula is affiliated with several organisations, including the Golden Key International Honour Society, the World Society of Victimology, and the Criminological Society of South Africa.
