Reatile Moncho is a PhD Candidate in the Department of History at the University of the Free State. His PhD Thesis where he seeks to construct a critical institutional history is titled ‘The Shaping of the University of the North, 1959-1994: The Role of Geographic and Social Location’. Reatile is a National Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS) PhD scholar, and an Andrew W. Mellon Honour’s and Master’s scholar, having held bursaries from the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa and a bursary from the Gauteng City Regional Academy (GCRA). He holds a Master’s in History from the University of Pretoria (UP) and cut his teeth in Industrial Sociology and Labour Studies at UP. Reatile is a cited author and an archival researcher, having served as a researcher/research assistant on several projects culminating in journal articles and books within South Africa, the United States, and Europe. His research interests are University Histories, Institutional Histories, Labour History and Class and Inequality.
