Dr Tshepo Mvulane Moloi

Biography

Dr Tshepo Mvulane Moloi is a South African Social Scientist.

His research interests include ‘University and School Histories especially those in South Africa’, ‘Liberation Histories of African states’, ‘History of Philosophy and ‘Africa’s International Relations’. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PDRF) at University of Johannesburg (UJ), his focus has been on aspects of the ‘History of UJ’, as part of the national ‘Histories of Universities in South Africa’ project, while affiliated to the Ali Mazrui Centre for Higher Education Studies (AMCHES) since 2022. The latter was preceded by a tenure as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PDRF) at the Johannesburg Institute of Advanced Study (JIAS) 2019/2020 also based at  UJ.

His demonstrated leadership track record amongst his academic peers includes serving as a Chair of the UJ Postdoctoral Association (UJ PDRF) from April 2023 to April 2024, Chairing the Postgraduate Association of  UJ (UJ PGA) in 2015 and 2016. The aforesaid portfolios complemented his earlier leadership portfolios as a Student Representative Council (SRC) leader, while at UJ (2016), Stellenbosch University(2009/10) and Zululand University (2003/4 & 2004/5).

His academic resume includes a DLitt et Phil in Political Science (2019) from UJ, an MA Degree in Systematic Philosophy (2013) from the University of Zululand (UZ), a Bachelor of Administration Honors degree, majoring in Political Science (2007) from UZ, BA degree in Heritage Studies (2006) from UZ and an Advanced Diploma in Sport Management (2000) from Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) by  becoming a ‘Sir Abe Bailey Fellow’ (Class of 2006) and a ‘Golden Key Society’ (2020) Member. The passion to serve the South African public as a public intellectual is uppermost in his mind ever since he achieved his personal milestones.
