The University of the Free State Theology masterclass took place on 16 August. It was a hybrid offering with students joining in person or online. The session was opened with a deep dive into what career opportunities are available for Theology students, followed by an academic advising session.
The speakers reiterated the importance of global exposure, urging students to be bold and seek international opportunities to broaden their worldview. They also shared some personal experiences that encouraged students to aim wider and not have a fixed mindset about their career path.

Possible career options for Theology students reach far beyond ministry and can be enhanced with subjects such as gender studies, psychology, business management, and communication. Occupations such as Bible translator, journalist, pastoral carer, researcher, or community developer may be a good fit for students called to theology.
Students acknowledged the importance of expanding their degrees horizontally through elective subjects and expressed the need for more and longer sessions by a variety of speakers. Look out for communication from UFS Career Services and make sure that you stay at the forefront of career success.
